Kerala brings back deleted content in school textbooks

V. Sivankutty, the State Education Minister, announced on Saturday that the Kerala government has taken proactive measures to reintroduce educational content related to Mahatma Gandhi and Nehru, which had previously been removed from school textbooks. He emphasized that the new textbooks, encompassing these reinstated materials, will be distributed to schools after the Onam break in September. Sivankutty emphasized the importance of providing students with a well-rounded understanding of our history, economics, and science, ensuring a balanced perspective.
Sivankutty also noted that the Central government had previously removed such content, but the Pinarayi Vijayan administration in Kerala is committed to upholding the true spirit of India's education. Additionally, reports have emerged suggesting that the history textbooks now even include coverage of the Gujarat riots.
In essence, the Kerala government's efforts aim to preserve a comprehensive and accurate portrayal of Indian history and culture for students, reiterating its commitment to a well-rounded education.
