"Keeping in mind the freedom struggle, the idea behind writing of the Constitution, the people, especially the youth at schools, colleges and universities — whether it is government, aided or private — should compulsorily read the Preamble of the Constitution," Social Welfare Minister HC Mahadevappa said. Speaking to reporters after the Cabinet meeting here, he said this will motivate the youth to contribute towards nation building and promote brotherhood among all communities. "Having such a great Constitution, our youth should compulsorily read its preamble every day," he said, adding that all government and semi-government offices should have a portrait of it displayed.

In a recent decision, the Karnataka cabinet has unanimously agreed to enforce a new mandate requiring all schools and colleges, regardless of whether they are government-funded, aided, or private, to read the Preamble of the Constitution on a daily basis. Additionally, the cabinet has made it obligatory for government and semi-government offices across the state to prominently display a portrait of the Preamble of the Constitution.

Emphasizing the significance of this decision, Social Welfare Minister HC Mahadevappa highlighted the importance of understanding the freedom struggle and the fundamental principles underlying the Constitution. Minister Mahadevappa stressed that students and young individuals attending educational institutions, irrespective of their affiliation, should actively engage with the Preamble as it serves to inspire the youth in contributing towards nation-building and fostering harmony among all communities.

He further emphasized that with such an exceptional Constitution in place, it is essential for the youth to acquaint themselves with its preamble on a daily basis. Consequently, Minister Mahadevappa urged all government and semi-government offices to prominently display a portrait of the Preamble to reinforce its significance.
