Establishment of Hindu, Jain, and Buddhist Study Centers

In response to the National Education Policy (2020) and the implementation of the Indian Knowledge Systems, JNU has formed a committee to facilitate the establishment of these new centers. The Executive Council's approval paves the way for the establishment of these centers under the School of Sanskrit and Indian Studies.

Notification and Approval Process

The Executive Council, during its meeting on May 29, 2024, approved the formation of a committee to recommend the establishment of Hindu, Jain, and Buddhist study centers. This move aligns with the university's commitment to integrating traditional knowledge systems into contemporary academic frameworks.

Courses Offered and Admission Details

Students enrolled at these new centers will have the opportunity to pursue Master's and Ph.D. programs. Admission will commence from the next academic session, with each center initially offering 20 seats.

Continuing Academic Innovations at JNU

Building on its previous initiatives, JNU introduced a new PG program in Hindu Studies last year, integrating Hindu philosophy with modern disciplines such as Computer Science, Information Science, Commerce, and Political Science. The program caters to graduates from any stream, offering a total of 60 seats.
