IPS officer from a village now tells Bhagavad Gita stories to spread message of peace and harmony
Here, we present the unique story of Gupteshwar Pandey, the former DGP (Director General of Police) of Bihar. He was born in the village of Geruaband in the Buxar district of Bihar. This village was quite underdeveloped, lacking basic amenities like electricity, water, education, and healthcare. However, Gupteshwar Pandey had a strong desire to study, even in such challenging circumstances.
Education and Beginnings: He initiated his education from Badshahpur in Uttar Pradesh and completed his intermediate studies there. After completing his intermediate education, he pursued graduation at Patna University. Following his graduation, he began preparing for the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) examination.
Entry into Civil Services: Initially, he became an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer, but he attempted the UPSC examination once again and was selected as an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer in 1987. He was allotted to the Bihar cadre. Subsequently, he served as Superintendent of Police (SP) in several important districts of Bihar. Later, he also held the position of Inspector General (IG), and in 2019, he was appointed as the Director General of Police (DGP) of Bihar.
Political Journey of IPS Gupteshwar Pandey: Although he held the position of DGP in Bihar, he resigned six months before the completion of his service tenure and opted for Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS). Afterward, he joined a political party and entered politics.
Narrator and Spiritual Journey: Some time later, he retired from politics as well and became a narrator. He immersed himself in devotion to the Lord and began narrating the Shrimad Bhagwat Katha. In the same year, he was conferred with the title of Jagatguru Ramanujacharya. He describes himself as the flute of the Lord and claims that he will play just like the Lord does.
Gupteshwar Pandey's story is an inspirational one, highlighting the values of struggle, hard work, and dedication. He understood the significance of public service in his life and contributed to the Bihar Police despite various challenges. His political journey also marked a new direction in his life.
