IIM Kashipur Increases Seats From 320 To 490 For Varied Courses In Effect From This Year

Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kashipur has successfully enrolled a total of 491 students for the upcoming academic year of 2023-2025. Among them, 321 students are set to pursue a two-year MBA course at the prestigious institution, while another 170 students have opted for the two-year MBA (Analytics) program. This year, IIM Kashipur has expanded its seat availability from 264 to 320 for the MBA program and from 80 to 160 for the MBA (Analytics) program.
To kickstart the new batches for MBA, MBA (Analytics), and Doctoral (PhD) programs, IIM Kashipur organized an orientation session from June 26th to June 30th, 2023. The event was graced by esteemed guests, including Mr. Asish Mohapatra, Co-Founder and CEO of SoftBank-backed OfBusiness, as the Chief Guest, and Dr. Swati Jain, Vice President of Analytics at EXL, as the Guest of Honor. Mr. Amod Tripathi, an alumnus of IIM Kashipur and currently serving as the Director of Strategy & International Marketing at SGPL, was also present as a special invitee.
During the session, the Director, Prof. Kulbhushan Balooni, expressed his delight and stated that this milestone marked a significant achievement in the history of IIM Kashipur. With an increase in the batch size from 320 students last year to the current 491 students, the institute's intake is now comparable to that of the first-generation IIMs. Prof. Balooni highlighted the rapid progress of IIM Kashipur, achieving what other IIMs took several years to accomplish in just 12 years.
Mr. Asish Mohapatra, the CEO of SoftBank-backed OfBusiness, shared his insights with the students and emphasized the importance of taking responsibility for one's life and striving for excellence. He introduced the theory of 'Six H' in life, where the first 'H' represents hunger, the ability to dream beyond societal limitations. The second 'H' is hard work, while the third 'H,' humility, forms the crucial link between the first two. Mr. Mohapatra encouraged the students to be generous and considerate towards others, reminding them that giving others their time is an essential aspect of personal growth.
Dr. Swati Jain, Vice President of Analytics at EXL, advised the students to focus not only on business but also on building meaningful relationships. She suggested that they take the initiative to assist others by offering suggestions for their future endeavors. Dr. Jain believed that this approach would serve them well in the long run and contribute to their overall growth as professionals.
Addressing the students, the Director highlighted the transformative power of spending time in the Himalayas, even if only for a few days. He shared the saying, "Blessed are they who see beautiful things in humble places, where other people see nothing," encouraging the students to appreciate the beauty and wisdom present in seemingly ordinary experiences.
Furthermore, the Director urged the students to seize the opportunity to ask questions, as it might be their last chance before embarking on their corporate journey. He emphasized the empowering nature of questioning, both for the students and their teachers. Prof. Mala Srivastava, the Dean of Academics at IIM Kashipur, congratulated the incoming batch for their admission to the esteemed 2-Year MBA program. She reminded the students to acknowledge the countless individuals who have contributed to their journey and encouraged them to excel in their endeavors, so that one day they could proudly say, "I taught this student" or "I helped these students."
