ICAI's Key Decision: CA Foundation and Intermediate Exams to be Held Three Times a Year

Exciting news for students preparing for the Chartered Accountancy (CA) exams! The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has made a significant announcement regarding the CA Foundation and Intermediate examinations. ICAI will now conduct these exams three times a year, marking a departure from the previous practice of holding them twice annually.

New Exam Schedule:
Under the new system, the CA Foundation and Intermediate exams will be held in January, May-June, and September. Previously, these exams took place during May-June and November-December. The increased frequency of exams will provide students with more opportunities to appear and excel.

Consideration for Students:
ICAI has taken this decision with the students' best interests in mind. The institute acknowledges that reducing the interval between exam sessions from six months to four months will enable students to sit for exams more frequently. This change aims to minimize the waiting period for students who have completed their exam preparation.

May-June Exam Schedule:
ICAI has already released the final dates for the May-June CA exams. A total of 4,36,500 students have registered for these exams. The CA Foundation exam will be conducted from June 20 to June 26, 2024. The Intermediate exams for both groups will be held between May 3 and May 13, with separate dates for each group.

The Process of Becoming a CA:
To become a Chartered Accountant, students must pass three levels of exams. Firstly, candidates need to appear for the ICAI Foundation exam, which is open to students who have passed 12th grade. After clearing the Foundation exam, candidates need to take the CA Intermediate exam, which consists of two groups, each with exams in four subjects. The final step is the CA Final exam. Upon passing the CA Final exam, candidates receive the prestigious CA designation.
