ICAI Considering Rescheduling CA May-June Exams Amid 2024 General Elections
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has hinted at the possible rescheduling of the CA Foundation, Final, and Intermediate examinations for the May session. This decision is contingent upon the dates coinciding with the 2024 general elections for the 18th Lok Sabha, the announcement of which is pending. Possible Rescheduling due to Elections: ICAI has announced that if the dates of the General Election coincide with the existing examination schedule, the Examination Committee may opt to reschedule the May 2024 CA Examination.
Introduction of Cooling-Off Period and Observer Eligibility Criteria: In addition, the committee has introduced a cooling-off period of one attempt after three consecutive attempts for individuals involved in observership duties. Eligibility criteria for observers have also been outlined, requiring applicants to be under the age of 65, refrain from coaching students, and maintain a clean legal record.
Honorarium Details for Observers: The ICAI has disclosed the honorarium details for observers, offering a compensation of Rs 3,000 per day or session, along with conveyance reimbursement ranging from Rs 250 to Rs 350 per day, depending on the city category.
Registration for Observers: Interested individuals seeking to register as observers have until March 5 to complete their registration at observers.icaiexam.icai.org.
Late Registration Opportunity and Amendment Window: Candidates who missed the initial application deadline have the option to register with a late fee until March 9. Additionally, registered candidates can make amendments to their forms from March 3 to 9. Registration for CA Foundation, Intermediate, and Final exams must be completed on the official website, eservices.icai.org.
Exam Dates: The CA exams are scheduled for May 2 to 13 for Intermediate, Final, and PQC exams, while the Foundation exams are set for June 20, 22, 24, and 26.
