HPPSC HPAS Prelims Exam Rescheduled to August 20 Due to Heavy Rains in Himachal

Recent heavy rainfall has had a devastating impact on Himachal Pradesh, leading to the postponement of the HP Administrative Service Competitive-preliminary exam 2023 by the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC). Originally scheduled for July 23, the HPPSC HPAS prelims exam will now take place on August 20. An official notification explains that the rescheduling was necessitated by extensive road damage caused by unprecedented rains and unfavorable weather conditions. The HPPSC has provided help desk numbers (0177-2629738, 2624313, and toll-free number 1800-180-8004) for candidates with inquiries.
The HPPC HPAS prelims exam will be conducted across 12 cities in Himachal Pradesh. It aims to fill 11 vacant positions within government departments, with nine positions in administrative services and two in police services. The exam consists of two papers: paper-I covering general studies and paper-II focusing on aptitude. The salary for both positions ranges from Rs. 56,000 to Rs. 1,77,500. The selection process involves the preliminary exam, main exam, and interview rounds. Eligible candidates must be at least 21 years old and not exceed 35 years of age as of January 1, 2023, although upper-age relaxation is available for candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC, and persons with disabilities.
In response to the recent calamities, the state education department has ordered the closure of government schools until July 15. The Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, has announced financial aid of Rs 1 lakh for all affected families. Sadly, the landslides and floods over a three-day period have resulted in the loss of 31 lives and caused the blockage of approximately 1,300 roads, as well as significant damage to 40 bridges.
