The Swami Vivekanand Youth Empowerment scheme has been given the green light by the Uttar Pradesh government, with a budget of Rs 1,800 crore for the 2022-23 financial year. The scheme aims to provide 10 lakh tablets and 25 lakh smartphones free of charge to students enrolled in various education and training programs such as graduation, post-graduation, diploma, skill development, paramedical and nursing courses.

The decision was made at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, where bid documents for the purchase of the devices were also approved. This move is expected to make the youth of the state more technically proficient, enabling them to complete their courses successfully and utilize their knowledge for serving society or starting their own businesses.
