Haryana Board Likely To Sanction Summer Vacations From May Owing To Heatwave Condition

The Haryana Education Board is expected to soon determine the timing for granting summer vacations to students. This year, several states in India, including Maharashtra, have rescheduled their summer vacation schedules due to intense heatwaves. Maharashtra, for instance, closed schools from mid-April. In light of the prevailing heatwave conditions, local media reports suggest that the Haryana Board will soon make a decision regarding summer vacations, possibly starting in May. However, there has been no official confirmation regarding this matter. Students of the Haryana Board eagerly await the announcement from the authorities.

Last year, the Haryana Board scheduled summer holidays from June 1 to June 30. Considering past trends, it can be assumed that schools in Haryana will remain closed for 30 days this year as well. Nevertheless, the Haryana Directorate of School Education has not yet announced the official date for summer vacations in government and private schools. Some media reports indicate the possibility of schools closing earlier due to persistent heatwave conditions in the state.

Additionally, the Uttar Pradesh Board has already announced summer holidays starting from May 20. Educational institutions affiliated with the UP Board will continue their summer vacations until June 15.

Apart from Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra has initiated summer vacations for students from April 21, 2023. This decision was made in response to the heatwaves in the financial capital of India. Schools in Maharashtra, with the exception of Vidarbha district, will reopen on June 15, 2023. However, schools in Vidarbha district will resume on June 30 for students. In Jharkhand, summer vacation will take place from May 21 to June 10, with the upcoming academic year 2023-24 commencing on June 12. In Madhya Pradesh, schools have been out of session since the beginning of May and will reopen on June 15. The academic session will start from June 16. In Odisha, summer vacations began early on May 5 and will conclude on June 18.
