Gujarat Board Class 10, 12 Exams 2024 Commence Today: Know Exam Schedule, Guidelines

The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) is all set to kick off the class 10 and class 12 board exams for 2024 from today, March 11. Students across various streams including Science, General, Vocational, and Sanskrit mediums will undertake their examinations, which are scheduled to continue until April 26, 2024.

The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) is all set to kick off the class 10 and class 12 board exams for 2024 from today, March 11. Students across various streams including Science, General, Vocational, and Sanskrit mediums will undertake their examinations, which are scheduled to continue until April 26, 2024.

Exam Schedule and Duration:
The board exams for both class 10 and class 12 students will span almost 15 days, with class 10 exams ending on March 22 and class 12 general stream exams concluding on March 26. The SSC exams will be conducted in the morning session from 10 am to 1:15 pm, while the HSC science board exams will have two shifts: morning from 10:30 am to 1:45 pm and afternoon from 3 pm to 6:15 pm.

Instructions for Students:
Students are urged to arrive at their exam centers at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time. They must carry a printed copy of their admit card obtained from their schools, and electronic devices such as mobile phones, laptops, Bluetooth speakers, and earphones are strictly prohibited inside the exam venue.

Key Modifications and Changes:
The Gujarat board has introduced notable changes for the 2024 board exams, including an increase in objective questions from 20 to 30 per cent while decreasing descriptive questions from 30 to 20 per cent. Additionally, class 12 science students have the option to appear for one or all of the supplementary exams in June/July, with the best of two results considered by the board.

Previous Year Performance:
In 2023, out of 734,898 students who appeared for the Gujarat board class 10 exams, 474,893 students passed, resulting in a pass rate of 64.62 per cent. The overall pass rate for the HSC general stream was 73.27 per cent, and for the science stream, it stood at 65.58 per cent.
