Joining the Indian Air Force Academy: Pathways and Eligibility
1. National Defence Academy (NDA):
- Eligibility: Class 12 pass
- Duration: Three years at NDA Khadakwasla, Pune, followed by flying training at AFA
- Branch: Flying branch of AFA (if opted for IAF)
2. National Cadet Corps (NCC) Entry:
- Eligibility: Air Wing Senior Division C Certificate holder
- Branch: Flying branch of AFA
3. Combined Defence Services Examination (CDSE):
- Eligibility: Male candidates, CDSE conducted by UPSC
- Branch: Fighter pilots, helicopter pilots, or transport pilots
4. Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT):
- Eligibility: Graduates or engineers (both male and female)
- Branch: Flying branch of AFA
- Duration: Short Service Commission (SSC) for 14 years, no extension provision
- Age: 20 to 24 years at the time of course commencement
- Selection Process: AFCAT exam followed by Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) interview
