Delhi University Grants Second Chance to COVID-Affected Students for Degree Completion

Examinations are often fraught with tension, with students striving for their best performance. However, students of B.Sc Nursing at Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Health Sciences in Bengaluru, Karnataka, were in for a shock when their much-awaited exam results were unveiled.

Unveiling the Marking Anomaly:
After the conclusion of examinations, students eagerly anticipated their results (Nursing Results 2024). To their astonishment, discrepancies emerged in their marks. Reports revealed that numerous students had exceeded the maximum marks set for the B.Sc Nursing paper, initially marked at 300. Many students were recorded with scores of 310 and 315 marks, surpassing the allotted total marks.

Investigation and Resolution:
Responding promptly, university officials initiated an investigation. It was revealed that the error stemmed from the inadvertent inclusion of marks from internal assessments in the final result calculation. Consequently, the institute invalidated the initial B.Sc Nursing result and announced a corrected version.

Identifying the Root Cause:
Further inquiry uncovered that an additional subject in B.Sc Nursing had been mistakenly included in the final result calculation. Although these marks were not intended to be part of the final score, they were erroneously added by the evaluating teacher. This oversight led to students initially receiving inflated marks, only to face disappointment upon the rectification of the error.

The repercussions of this marking discrepancy were significant. While some students initially celebrated their unexpectedly high scores, they were later confronted with failing grades once the corrected results were released. In a similar vein, the release of JEE Main 2024 results by the National Testing Agency (NTA) sparked controversy. Numerous candidates reported significant disparities between their estimated marks and percentiles, attributing it to an "error" on NTA's part.
