Darbhanga becomes Bihar second largest education hub after Patna
Employment News-According to a recent report of All India Higher Education, the actual number of educational institutions in Bihar has gone up to 916. However, 57 per cent of these higher educational institutions are in only 10 districts. Not only this, out of about 16 lakh students enrolled in higher educational institutions of the state, 69 percent enrollment took place in higher educational institutions of 12 districts only. In this way, opportunities for higher education are getting limited in only a few cities and districts.

Based on the data of the academic session 2019-20, it is clear from the report that students from districts with fewer educational institutions have to go out of their city or district for higher education. While in some districts, their capacity is manifold more. There is pressure from the students. Where the number of students per educational institution ranges between three to four thousand, which is almost two times more than the national ratio.
Highest density of students in East Champaran and Begusarai district
According to the report, the density of students is highest in the higher educational institutions of East Champaran and Gaya districts in the state. The density of students per educational institution in these two districts is 3858 and 3566 respectively. Apart from this, among the districts with the highest density of students per educational institution in the state, 2879 in Bhagalpur, 2685 in Samastipur, 2365 in Bhojpur, 2337 in Darbhanga, 2135 in Madhubani, 2117 in Rohtas, 1800 in Patna, 1575 in Gaya, 1442 in Nalanda, 1117 are included in Muzaffarpur.
These are the districts where more than 50 thousand students have been enrolled in educational institutions. Two districts with more than one lakh enrollment have been identified in Bihar. Of these, the maximum enrollment was 277222 in Patna district and 130873 in Darbhanga in the academic session of 2019-20. A little less than one lakh 99378 nominations were registered in Samastipur.
It is noteworthy that there are less than ten higher educational institutions in Sheohar, Lakhisarai, Jamui, Sheikhpura, Arwal, Supaul and Kishanganj. It is noteworthy that the ratio of enrollment in the state and enrollment in higher educational institutions remains more or less the same.
