CUET UG Exam Dates Likely to Remain Unchanged Despite Lok Sabha Polls

The Common University Entrance Test (CUET)-UG for 2024 will proceed as planned between May 15 and May 31, with no alterations despite overlapping with Lok Sabha election dates, according to UGC Chairman Jagadesh Kumar. The schedule will be finalized after the completion of the registration process.

CUET-UG and Election Dates: Initially, there were concerns regarding potential changes to CUET-UG dates due to the Lok Sabha election schedule. However, Chairman Kumar clarified that the exam dates would remain unchanged. While two CUET-UG dates overlap with election dates on May 20 and May 25, the NTA will release the date sheet post-registration to accommodate both events.

Application Deadline: Prospective candidates have until March 26 to complete the application process for CUET-UG 2024. This standardized test was introduced in 2022 to streamline admission processes across various universities.

Hybrid Examination Format: CUET-UG 2024 will feature a hybrid examination format, combining Computer Based Testing and pen-and-paper modes for different subjects. Subjects with high registration volumes will utilize a pen-and-paper format with optical mark recognition (OMR), while others will remain computer-based.

Significance of CUET-UG: In the previous cycle, CUET-UG witnessed approximately 14.9 lakh registrations, underscoring its importance in the higher education landscape. The test serves as a gateway for admissions into central, state, deemed, and private universities nationwide.
