CSAB Counselling 2023 To Begin On August 2, Check Schedule

The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela has announced the commencement of registrations for the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) on June 19. These registrations are for admissions to various prestigious institutions including NITs, Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), Indian Institutes of Engineering, Science, and Technology (IIEST), and Government funded technical institutes (GFTI). The admissions will be conducted through the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2023.
Once the Joint Seat Allocation System (JoSAA) counselling for 2023 concludes, NIT Rourkela will initiate the CSAB special round. Additionally, there will be CSAB-Supernumerary rounds for admission to supernumerary seats in select NITs specifically for residents of the Union Territories of Andaman and Nicobar, Lakshadweep, Daman and Diu, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
There are several key changes to the seat allocation criteria for CSAB Counselling 2023. Candidates must have a minimum of 75% in their Class 12 exams or be in the top 20% of their class. However, for students belonging to SC, ST, or PwD categories, the required score is 65%. Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) are eligible to apply under the general category. Candidates with a disability of less than 40% who faced difficulties in writing the exam and required a scribe or extra time will need to undergo physical verification at the verification centre.
Candidates whose categories were modified during the JoSAA counselling rounds in 2023 will have the opportunity to restore their original categories by providing a valid certificate during the registration stage of the CSAB special round in 2023. NIT Rourkela has created an online portal where candidates can upload a legitimate category certificate to apply for the reinstatement of their birth category.
To allocate seats under the "Reservation of seats in Degree Level Technical Courses for States / UTs lacking such facilities in the AICTE-approved Institutions" program for applicants from North-East states and Union Territories, the CSAB will conduct counselling sessions for the 2023 NEUT rounds starting from June 26.
Important dates for CSAB Counselling 2023 include registration and choice-filling for CSAB special rounds from August 2 to 6, display of seat allocation for special round 1 on August 7, online reporting from August 7 to 9, display of seat allocation for special round 2 on August 11, and online reporting from August 11 to 14.
It is expected that approximately 2.5 to 3 lakh JEE Main 2023 qualified students will participate in CSAB Counselling 2023, competing for around 40,000 available seats, with 20% of them reserved for women. To assist students, NIT Rourkela has established a multilingual support desk in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, Bangla, Hindi, Odia, and English.
