Controversy Around NCERT Textbooks' Rationalisation 'unwarranted': JNU VC

JNU vice-chancellor Santishree D Pandit expressed her opinion on the ongoing controversy surrounding the rationalisation of NCERT textbooks, stating that it is "unwarranted." She emphasized the importance of incorporating new "discoveries and knowledge" into the revised syllabus. These remarks were made in response to a letter written by a group of academicians who were previously involved in the development of the NCERT textbooks.
In their letter, they requested that their names be removed from the books, as they felt their collective efforts were in jeopardy. Pandit highlighted that the recent developments following the rationalisation are indicative of a cancel culture, wherein a certain faction believes their viewpoint should be the final authority, without allowing room for alternative opinions.
