Reason for Postponement

The devastation caused by the rainfall has disrupted the printing process of examination question papers, which were to be conducted between December 11 and 16. The challenges in transportation and production, particularly in Chennai, where the papers are printed, have prompted the university to postpone the exams.

Affected Institutions and Students

About 145 affiliated colleges of Bharathidasan University in Trichy, catering to thousands of students from Trichy and nearby areas, are impacted by this delay. While autonomous colleges have completed their exams, the 121 non-autonomous institutions face the postponement.

Official Circular and Revised Schedule

S Srinivasa Raghavan, the Controller of Examinations (in-charge), communicated to college principals the administrative decision to defer the exams. The university assures a revised schedule will be promptly announced, ensuring minimal disruption to the academic calendar.

Weather-Related Challenges in Chennai

Chennai grapples with the aftermath of Cyclone Michaung, which brought extensive flooding and damage. Despite gradual normalization in some areas, parts of South and North Chennai struggle with power outages, supply shortages, and persistent waterlogging.

Relief Efforts and Government Support

Relief work is ongoing, and Tamil Nadu CM Stalin has announced relief assistance of Rs 6,000 to affected families. The region is still coping with the aftermath of the cyclone and subsequent floods, emphasizing the ongoing challenges faced by residents.
