The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has recently unveiled a plan to conduct board exams for students actively participating in national or international sporting events and international Olympiads at a later date. These special exams will be scheduled after the regular Class 10 and Class 12 board exams to allow students to excel in both their academic and sporting pursuits.
Here are the key points regarding these special exams:
-
Accommodating Clashing Schedules: Students with exams scheduled on the same dates as international Olympiads or national and international sporting events, including travel dates for these events in 2024, will be given new exam dates to avoid conflicts.
-
Eligibility Requirements: Participation eligibility in these special exams depends on the recognition of the sport by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Sports Authority of India (SAI) for sporting events. For Olympiads, acknowledgment from the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE) is necessary.
-
Application Deadline: Schools must submit applications for these special exams to the respective regional office by December 31. Applications received after this deadline will not be considered. Additionally, endorsements from the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education and the Sports Authority of India are crucial. Students are also required to provide a certificate of participation issued by the relevant authorities.
-
Limitations: These special exams will not cover internal assessments, projects, or practical exams. Moreover, attendance exceptions beyond the CBSE's guidelines will not be granted. Students should note that these special exams are not intended for participation in training or selection camps.
In addition to this announcement, the CBSE has made subject-wise mark distribution available for students and instructors as a reference for the upcoming board exams in 2024. This detailed breakdown covers practical and theory components and is accessible on the official CBSE website.
