Impersonation Concerns Prompt Re-Verification

K K Pathak, the Additional Chief Secretary of the Education Department, mandated all District Magistrates (DMs) to conduct a re-verification drive starting from January 15. This move was triggered by the Bihar Public Service Commission's (BPSC) failure to provide candidates' thumb impressions from the entrance examination during November's counselling process.

Uncovering Discrepancies and Imposing Legal Actions

The re-verification process arose following complaints regarding impersonation among the 4,000 selected teachers. Through this investigation, the department discovered three imposters and noted that three appointed teachers had absconded. Consequently, legal measures have been initiated against these individuals.

Teacher Recruitment and Concerns Addressed

Previously, the Bihar government appointed 1,20,336 teachers who cleared the Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE-1) conducted by BPSC. Simultaneously, the Commission announced TRE-2 results, aiming to fill 86,557 teaching positions across various subjects in the state.

BPSC's Commitment to Resolving Verification Issues

To address concerns and ensure accuracy, the BPSC has agreed to provide thumb impressions of TRE-1 and TRE-2 candidates from the written exams. These prints will undergo thorough cross-verification during the re-verification and counselling sessions.

Stringent Actions and Debarment by BPSC

In a separate action, the BPSC permanently debarred 49 candidates from future examinations due to their alleged involvement in impersonation during the school teacher competitive examination. The list of debarred candidates is accessible on the Commission's website.

Re-Verification Process and Immediate Actions

The directive issued to DMs mandates the grouping of newly recruited TRE-1 teachers for re-verification, matching their thumb impressions collected during the entrance exam. These teachers are required to attend alongside the headmasters of their respective schools. Immediate legal actions will ensue if any anomalies or irregularities are detected during the thumb impression verification process, as stipulated in the letter.

This rigorous re-verification drive by the Bihar Education Department reflects its commitment to ensuring the integrity and authenticity of the recruitment process for teachers, aiming to maintain educational standards and fairness.
