Daksha Shrestha Singh, hailing from Bihar's Patna, has achieved a remarkable feat by securing 100 percentile in three subjects. Her outstanding performance includes political science, history, and economics. Notably, she also attained an impressive 199.647 percentile in English. Since her childhood, Daksha has been an avid reader, forging a strong connection with English, and harboring aspirations to pursue a career in researching the subject. Furthermore, she aims to crack the UPSC Civil Services Examination in the future.
Delhi University's Miranda House is her top choice for higher studies, while Lady Shri Ram College stands as her second preference. Daksha attributes her success to her mother, who is an English language teacher at a private school. She expressed her enthusiasm for pursuing English Literature, having been inspired by the faculty's qualifications and interactions with seniors at Miranda House. Additionally, Daksha's mother is an alumnus of the same college. Her father serves as a GST officer in the Bihar government.
Daksha completed her schooling at St Joseph's Convent High School, achieving an impressive 97.25 percent in the ISC class 12th board examination. For her excellent performance in English, she primarily relied on NCERT textbooks and the class 12th examination pattern, foregoing the need for additional reference books due to the ample English practice questions in the ICSE board curriculum. Nevertheless, she diligently revised rules, parts of speech, and linguistic particulars.
Sharing her CUET UG paper analysis with News18.com, Daksha, who scored 799.64 after normalization, revealed that the paper primarily focused on NCERT content. The examination included direct statements and pictures from NCERT books. While other subjects strictly adhered to NCERT materials, there were no specific reference books available for the English section.
When preparing for political science, Daksha dedicated herself to reading every chapter multiple times and regularly solving mocks. For macro and microeconomics, she practiced numerous numerical problems and graphs alongside studying the chapters and solving mocks. Concerning Indian economic development, she approached it similarly to history, but paid special attention to historical data and relevant tables while focusing on important dates.
Throughout her preparation journey, Daksha also received coaching assistance. Her determination and hard work paid off, leading to an outstanding academic performance and setting her on a promising path for the future.
