Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham Launches MSc in Yoga and Cognitive Science
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has introduced a groundbreaking initiative - the inaugural MSc in Yoga and Cognitive Science program in India. The enrollment process for this unique offering is now open, with the inaugural session slated to commence in September. Delivered by the esteemed Amrita Mind Brain Centre, this course amalgamates ancient yogic practices with cutting-edge insights from cognitive science, as stated by the university.
Applicants for this innovative program are required to hold a bachelor’s degree in a scientific field such as mathematics, physics, biology, biotechnology, psychology, engineering, or medicine. While a background in yoga, neuroscience, or computer science is advantageous, it is not obligatory. The master's curriculum has been thoughtfully designed to delve into the intricate interplay between the mind, body, and consciousness, cultivating a profound grasp of human behavior and cognition, according to the institution.
Spanning four semesters, the program encompasses a diverse range of subjects, including Yoga philosophy and practices, the influence of the Sanskrit language on cognition, human anatomy and physiology, and cognitive science and neuroscience. The selection process for admission into the MSc in Yoga and Cognitive Science program is multifaceted. Following successful completion of the undergraduate examination, shortlisted candidates will undergo a rigorous interview to evaluate their suitability, enthusiasm, and alignment with the program's objectives. Upon meeting the interview criteria, candidates will be provisionally accepted into the program.
Furthermore, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham had previously collaborated with the Waipapa Taumata Rau University of Auckland to provide an integrated dual degree program in computer science and engineering. Students from both nations have the opportunity to earn two degrees through the Bachelor of Technology (BTech) in computer science and engineering program at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, followed by a Master of Science (MSc) in Computer Science or Master of Data Science (MDataSci) from the University of Auckland. This distinctive dual-degree pathway also includes practical industry-based internships for students. Following the successful completion of both degrees, graduates are eligible for a post-study work visa in New Zealand, as affirmed by the institution.
