Amid Heavy Rains, Telangana Govt Changes School Timings

The state government of Telangana has recently issued new orders regarding school timings in response to heavy rains affecting the region. According to the directive from the state education department, schools will now commence at 9.30 am. Primary schools will operate until 4.15 pm, while upper primary and high schools will continue until 4.45 pm. This schedule also applies to primary schools situated within high school campuses.
The decision to change the timings was made due to the ongoing heavy rains in Telangana. The state education department issued the official orders to implement these changes. However, it's important to note that these revised timings are not applicable to Hyderabad and Secunderabad. The regular academic calendar will be followed for schools in these twin cities.
The Department of Education has instructed the offices of the Regional Joint Director of School Education and DEO to communicate the new timings to all primary and high schools across the state, except for Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
The reason behind this decision is the expected continuation of heavy rainfall in Telangana for three to four days starting from July 24. The Meteorological Department has forecasted heavy to very heavy rains in various areas on July 25 and 26, including Adilabad, Asifabad, Manchiryala, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagityal, Sirisilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Bhupalapalli, Mulugu, Kothagudem, Khammam, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanmakonda, and other districts.
In light of the continuous heavy rain and its impact on the region, the Telangana government had already extended the holidays for educational institutions. Specifically, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday were declared as holidays due to the rainfall.
Furthermore, the Indian Meteorological Department has also issued warnings about the likelihood of heavy rains in Andhra Pradesh. In the upcoming three days, Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra regions are expected to experience heavy rainfall due to the influence of a surface circulation in the North West Bay of Bengal. However, as of now, the Andhra Pradesh government has not made any official announcement regarding school holidays in response to the forecasted weather conditions.
