Punjab government will make government schools excellent, CM Bhagwant Mann announced

Employment News-Describing education as the cornerstone of building a new society, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced to bring about multidimensional reforms in this area. He said that government schools in the state would be converted into "excellent schools". The Chief Minister said that the government is committed not only to construction of state-of-the-art government schools but also to regulate fees in private schools to ensure that students get quality and affordable education.

"The NOC (No Objection Certificate) of schools violating the Fee Act, 2016 will be canceled and a fine of Rs 1 lakh will be imposed," the Chief Minister said while replying to a discussion on the Motion of Thanks to the Governor's address. He was speaking in the state assembly. He said that the focus would be on quality education in colleges and universities and University Grants Commission (UGC) pay scale would be given to lecturers in colleges and universities. The Chief Minister also said that the government is setting up 19 new Industrial Training Institutes to provide quality technical education.

US Embassy to train faculty members
The Chief Minister said that 44 new courses are being considered to be started in various industrial training institutes according to the demand of the industry. Mann said the state government has already started the process of filling up the vacant posts and the recruitment process for 5,994 'elementary' trained teachers and 8,393 'pre-primary' teachers is underway. The Chief Minister said that from now on teachers would be posted for main teaching work and a separate cadre would be created for non-academic work. He said the state's Department of School Education, in collaboration with the Regional English Language Office of the US Embassy, ​​New Delhi, would train the faculty members.
