The 12th pass certificate of NIOS is recognized all over the country for both job and higher education purposes which will provide various opportunities to the Agniveers to progress in life. He also said that the initiative of @DselEduMinistry to launch a special program for Agniveer in consultation with the Defense Ministry is a welcome step. Under this, 10th pass Agniveer can get 12th class certificate through @niostwit while pursuing his education.

He claimed that this would compromise the quality and efficiency of our armed forces. The CPI(M) general secretary said that the Agneepath scheme should be scrapped immediately.

Communist Party of India MP Vinay Vishwam also opposed the plan and demanded its withdrawal. After 4 years, 75 percent of the soldiers will be retired without facilities like pension. Provision has been made to keep the remaining 25 percent regular in the Indian Army. Under the scheme, about 46,000 soldiers will be recruited in the three services this year. The eligibility age for selection will be between 17 and a half years to 21 years and will be named as Agniveer.
