988 new posts for primary and high school teachers sanctioned in Karnataka
The Karnataka government has issued a revised notice concerning the recruitment of primary and high school teachers, aiming to maintain favorable student-teacher ratios in elementary and secondary schools. The update results in an additional 988 teaching positions, specifically for high school teachers, increasing the total teacher positions from 43,353 to 44,341. However, the count of primary school teaching positions, which stands at 1,88,532, remains unaffected.

Changes in Teacher Positions: Following the revised notification, some primary school teacher positions in Bengaluru and Mysuru divisions were reallocated as part of the restructuring of existing posts across four divisions.

Kalaburagi Division: This region, also known as Kalyana Karnataka, gained 574 new positions for both high school and primary school teachers. The existing 45,117 primary school teacher positions have been expanded to 45,431, while the existing 11,420 high school teacher positions have increased to 11,680.

Belagavi Division: This division saw an addition of 417 new positions for high school and primary school teachers. The primary school positions rose from 57,738 to 57,830 (an increase of 92 positions), and the high school positions increased from 10,543 to 10,868 (a gain of 325 positions).

Bengaluru Division: The total sanctioned positions for elementary school decreased from 51,242 to 57,057, while the high school positions rose from 11,091 to 11,321, with the addition of 230 new positions.

Mysuru Division: The number of sanctioned primary school positions reduced from 34,435 to 34,213, marking a reduction of 222 positions. In contrast, the high school positions increased from 10,299 to 10,472, with 173 new positions.
This revision is aimed at ensuring that student-teacher ratios are maintained at optimal levels in both primary and high schools across different divisions in Karnataka. It reflects the government's commitment to providing quality education and adequate teaching staff for students in the state.
