Their courage and their commendable bravery upon which, every Indian feels proud. Shivdeep Waman Lande – He is an IPS officer of 2006 batch. He belongs to Maharashtra and was born on 29th August 1976. He is currently serving as Superintendent Police for Special Task Force in Patna, Bihar. He is also an electrical engineer by qualification. In Patna he is denoted as ‘Singham’ and ‘Dabangg’ of Bihar. His style of dealing with traffic rule breakers and his raids on illegal cybercafés made him a superstar among youngsters as well as of their guardians. Not only this, Shivdeep also have a huge fan following. His popularity can be measured by an incident that when he was transferred from Patna to Araia, hundreds of people came forward to protest against his transfer.

Narendra Kumar – Narendra was born in the year 1979 in Uttar Pradesh. He joined IPS in 2009 in Bihar. Naredra Kumar had completed his college from Aligarh Muslim University. He actively participated in arresting criminals involved in mining scams of Madhya Pradesh. He worked to stop illegally mined stones and fought against the mining mafia. In 2012 at the age of 30, this young IPS officer was crushed by the tractor of mining mafia, when he was trying to stop a tractor carrying illegal mined stones. His wife Madhurani Tewatia is an IAS officer of 2000 batch in Gwalior.

Kiran Bedi – The most famous face of police force and an inspiration for all the female IPS aspirants, Kiran Bedi joined IPS in 1972 and became the first woman IPS officer. Kiran was born in Punjabi family in 1949. She started her career as a Deputy Commissioner of Police in Delhi. She was awarded with President’s Police Medal in 1979, Ramon Magsaysay award in 1994, United Nations Medal 2004 and many more. One interesting fact about her which I would like to share with you, that once she dragged the car of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi due to negligence of parking rules, after which she was referred as ‘Crane Bedi’. She is one of the most influential women country has witnessed. She is also the first officer who posted at Tihar Jail as Inspector General. Now Kiran is a member of BJP.

V.V. Lakshmi Narayana – Born and bought up in Andhra Pradesh, Lakshmi Narayan is an Inspector General of 1990 batch of IPS from Maharashtra cadre. At present he is posted as Additional Director General of Maharashtra Police. Narayan is known for his impactful speeches. This person is known for leading the most famous investigations of OMC Scandal, 2G spectrum scam, Satyam scandal, fake encounter of Sohrabuddin Sheikh and disproportionate assets of Kadapa MP YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Narayan was also given ‘Y’ category security as he was dealing with high-profile cases.

Hemant Karkare – Ashok Chakra awarded Hemant Karkare was the chief of the Mumbai Anti-Terrorist Squad. He joined IPS in 1982. This courageous man served his 7 years in Australia in the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW). He was appreciated for solving the serial bombing cases in Thane, Panvel and Vashi of Maharashtra. He also lead the investigation of 2008 Malegaon blasts. Hemant was killed during 26/11 Mumbai attack in 2008. He was shot three times in the chest after which he was declared dead. In the year 2009 Hemant was awarded with Ashok Chakra.

Sanjukta Parashar – The first woman IPS officer from Assam Sanjukta was born on 3rd October 1979. She is an IPS officer from 2006 batch. She has fought against the Bodo militants of Assam. Currently, she is posted as superintendent of Police at Sonitpur. Being a woman she had terribly fought against Bodo. She lead jawans of CRPF though rough forests and difficult terrains. During her service as the SP of Jorhat she kept a strict eye on all rogues and eye-teasers.

Dr. Nazrull Islam – Former IPS Officer Nazrull is known for his daredevil attitude towards his work. He joined IPS in 1981. Regarding to a case, he even dragged the MLA to the court. He was posted to Kolkata and every changing government acted against him. In his service period he was transferred from one place to other many times. His motto of working was ‘Impartiality and equal justice’ made him more courageous and brave. He is also a writer, he wrote many books. His books ‘Mulnibasi Istahar’, ‘Bhaontadir Bhanr Samuhahe’ and ‘Ulangini Rani’ was written on criticizing Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee made a controversy in state.

Ashok Kamte – Son of Retired Lieutenant Colonel Marutirao Narayanrao Kamte, Ashok was born on 23rd February, 1965 in Maharashtrian police family. He is IPS from 1989 batch of Maharashtra cadre. Kamte came into limelight after an incident took place in Solapur in 2007, where he arrested a 3 time member of Legislative Assembly, Ravikant Patil. Kamte was one of the most respected officers of Mumbai Police. Kamte was shot dead in terrorist attack of Mumbai on 26/11. At the time of Mumbai attack when he was at attack place he told his wife ‘today is my day. I will show them what it is’. He was awarded with Ashok Chakra award for his bravery.

Damayanti Sen – Dayamanti is an IPS officer from 1996 batch. She was Kolkata’s first woman Joint Commissioner of Police. This woman officer was the one who solved the Park Street rape case of Kolakata. Sen was titled as ‘Tigress’ after cracking this rape case. Currently she is working as Deputy Inspector General of Police on Barrackpore, West Bengal.

Ajit Kumar Doval – Born in Uttarakhand, Ajit has completed his education from different parts of country. He is an IPS officer from 1968 batch of Kerala cadre. He is a former Indian intelligence and law enforcement officer. Currently he is 5th National Security Adviser to our Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He spent his 7 years in Pakistan as a Muslim for being an Indian spy. He was India’s main negotiator with the hijackers of Indian Airlines in Kandhar in the year 1999. He was awarded with Police Medal, President’s Police Medal and Kirti Chakra for his commendable work.
