Kanwar Yatra and School Closures in Uttar Pradesh

As the sacred month of Sawan begins, the Kanwar Yatra is underway throughout India. In Uttar Pradesh, authorities have mandated the closure of schools in various districts to effectively manage the influx of pilgrims. This order affects both schools and colleges, with non-compliance resulting in penalties.

1. Educational Institutions in Muzaffarnagar and Meerut Closed Until August 12

The government has classified Muzaffarnagar as a sensitive area. To prevent any disruptions for Kanwariyas (pilgrims) and students, all government educational institutions will remain closed from August 3 to August 12, 2026. Schools in Meerut will also follow this closure schedule.

2. Ghaziabad Schools on Holiday from August 4 to 12

The District Inspector of Schools (DIOS) has announced that educational institutions in Ghaziabad will observe holidays from August 4 to August 12.

3. Additional Closures in Bareilly and Badaun

In Bareilly, schools will be closed every Monday during the Sawan month. Similarly, in Badaun, schools will not operate on Saturdays and Mondays for classes 1 through 12 throughout the month.
