Bihar Teacher Recruitment Update: 27,000 Vacancies Expected Soon
Significant Developments in Teacher Recruitment
Candidates gearing up for the teacher recruitment examination in Bihar have received crucial updates. Following the successful completion of the Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) by 256,301 candidates, the Education Department is ramping up its recruitment efforts. Almost all districts have submitted their reservation roster registers, leading to a swift preparation for the vacancy notification. Education Minister Sunil Kumar emphasized the government's commitment to expediting teacher appointments, ensuring no delays in the process. The recruitment initiative aims to address the pressing teacher shortage in schools, with verification processes underway for the fourth phase of the teacher recruitment examination. The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) is expected to receive the requisition for advertisement publication by the 20th of this month.
Implementation of Domicile Policy
In a notable change, the domicile policy will be enforced during the fourth phase of the teacher recruitment examination, as announced by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and approved by the cabinet. This policy stipulates that 84.4% of the positions in TRE-4 will be reserved for Bihar residents, while only 15.6% will be allocated to the general category. The government has indicated that candidates who completed their matriculation and intermediate studies in Bihar will be prioritized. Additionally, women will be required to have domicile status to qualify for the 35% reservation.
Preparation for 27,000 Vacancies
The Education Department is gearing up to announce vacancies for approximately 27,000 posts in the fourth phase of the teacher recruitment examination. However, candidates are advocating for a larger number of vacancies. Student leader Dilip Kumar highlighted that the government had previously committed to releasing vacancies for 120,000 positions by 2025. Protests were held by teacher candidates on September 9, September 19, and October 4, demanding adherence to this promise. The Education Minister's current focus on filling only 25,000 to 27,000 vacancies has raised concerns among students, who feel they are being treated unfairly. They are urging the government to fulfill its commitment and release vacancies for at least 100,000 positions.
