Uttar Pradesh Board Introduces Improvement Exams for 12th Grade Students
New Improvement Exam Policy for UP Board Students
The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) has unveiled a new initiative aimed at providing relief to intermediate students. Under this new policy, students in the 12th grade will now have the opportunity to take improvement exams. This proposal was submitted to the state government and has received approval. The implementation of this rule will commence once the formalities are completed, allowing students preparing for the 2026 exams to benefit from it. Previously, this option was only available to 10th-grade students.
Previously, if 12th-grade students scored poorly in a subject, their only recourse was to take compartment exams. With this new policy, they can now enhance their scores even after passing.
How to Apply for Improvement Exams?
Reports indicate that forms for improvement exams will be made available shortly after the release of the 12th-grade results in April. Students wishing to improve their scores in a specific subject will be able to apply. However, a student can only take the improvement exam for one subject at a time.
Clarifying Improvement vs. Compartmentalization
Compartment exams are designated for students who have failed a subject, while improvement exams cater to those who have passed but wish to enhance their scores. This new facility is particularly beneficial for students whose performance may have been impacted by health issues or other circumstances.
Details on the 2026 Exam and Results
