Significant Updates for NEET PG 2026 Candidates

Medical aspirants taking the NEET PG 2026 will experience notable modifications in the post-examination procedures this year. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) will unveil the NEET PG answer key for the first time, a move prompted by a directive from the Supreme Court. Candidates will also have access to their answer sheets and the responses they provided during the exam, enabling them to assess their performance. The exam took place on August 30, and a re-examination is scheduled for September 5 for those impacted by a power outage at the Jaipur center.

First-Time Release of Answer Key

As outlined in the NEET PG 2026 brochure, candidates can log into the NBEMS website to view question IDs, the correct answer keys, and their selected responses. This initiative aligns with the Supreme Court's ruling.

Exam Details

The NEET PG 2026 examination was conducted in a single shift on August 30 at 1,111 centers across 338 cities, with participation from over 265,000 candidates. Results are anticipated by September 30.

Exam Structure and Scoring

This year's exam featured 180 multiple-choice questions (MCQs), totaling 720 marks. Candidates earn four marks for each correct answer, while one mark is deducted for incorrect responses. The number of questions was reduced from 200 to 180 this year. A re-examination will occur on September 5 at 3 PM for the 2,445 candidates affected by the power outage in Jaipur.

Tie-Breaking Criteria

In the event of a tie, candidates with fewer incorrect answers will be prioritized for ranking. If necessary, further tie-breaking will consider the fewest incorrect answers across Sections A, B, and C, followed by the highest percentage of marks in all MBBS examinations. Lastly, older candidates will receive a higher rank.

Admission Process

Admission to MD, MS, and other postgraduate medical courses will be based on NEET PG scores. The counseling schedule will be announced following the results. Candidates must complete their internships by September 30 to meet eligibility criteria.
