In the recently announced Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBoSE) Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) examination 2023, Rishab Purkayastha from Laban Bengalee Boys' Higher Secondary School secured the top rank in the commerce stream, defying all odds. Purkayastha's father runs a small pan shop at Jail Road Bazaar, and his mother works at a parlour as a daily wage earner, but this did not hinder his aspirations. Purkayastha expressed his gratitude towards his parents, stating that bringing a smile to their faces is his greatest achievement in life. He has been inspired by their struggles and plans to pursue a B.Com in accounting and finance from Anthony's College, with the goal of becoming an investment banker.

Purkayastha credits his success to his teachers' motivation and hard work, along with his self-learning through YouTube. According to him, expanding one's knowledge base by utilizing online resources such as YouTube is crucial in today's world of artificial intelligence technology. Purkayastha's father, Biplab Purkayastha, is elated with his son's achievement but remains concerned about his future like any other parent.

Another commerce stream student, Akshat Das, ranked fourth in the class 12 MBoSE examination, has a similar story to Purkayastha. With his father being a daily wage earner and his mother running a fast food shop, Das faced financial difficulties, but he managed to excel with the support of his parents and teachers. He plans to pursue B.Com with accountancy honours and then continue with the Company Secretary (CS) course. Das also believes that studying with the help of educational YouTube videos has been an excellent extra measure, along with all the math, accountancy, and economics tuition that went into guaranteeing his success. The emergence of platforms like YouTube has been a boon for the younger generation, as educational videos can be used to clarify concepts and queries at any point in time.

These success stories demonstrate that with hard work, dedication, and the right utilization of available resources, anyone can achieve their goals and succeed.
