Direct Admissions at Delhi University Colleges

Delhi University (DU) has initiated a unique admission process for Bhagini Nivedita College and Aditi Mahavidyalaya, allowing students to gain entry into undergraduate programs based solely on their Class 12 examination scores. This initiative aims to address the persistent issue of unfilled seats in these institutions.

For the academic year 2026-27, DU has authorized these two off-campus colleges to accept students based on their Class 12 marks, while still maintaining the traditional admission routes through the CUET and CSAS systems. This measure is specifically tailored to tackle the ongoing vacancy problem in these colleges, although DU emphasizes that this is not a new overarching admission policy.

Colleges Accepting Class 12 Marks for Admission

Both Bhagini Nivedita College and Aditi Mahavidyalaya are now accepting applications directly based on Class 12 results. Students interested in Bhagini Nivedita College can download the application form from the college's website and submit it offline by August 5. The merit list will be published on the same day, with document verification and fee payment scheduled for August 7. Aditi Mahavidyalaya is also welcoming direct applications, with its merit list to be released after the application period ends.

Reasons Behind This Admission Strategy

DU has noted that both colleges have struggled to fill their seats for several years. Despite several rounds of CUET-based counseling, many seats remain unoccupied. For instance, last year, Bhagini Nivedita College had 709 out of 985 seats vacant, while Aditi Mahavidyalaya could not fill around 600 of its nearly 1,000 seats. Consequently, both colleges requested permission from DU to admit students based on Class 12 marks.

Challenges Leading to Vacant Seats

The administrations of both colleges attribute the high vacancy rates to their locations on the outskirts of the city—Bhagini Nivedita College in Najafgarh and Aditi Mahavidyalaya in Bawana. The absence of hostel facilities and insufficient student amenities has led many students to withdraw after gaining admission. Additionally, Aditi Mahavidyalaya has observed that numerous female students from nearby rural areas do not participate in the CUET exam, resulting in missed admission opportunities despite high Class 12 scores. The colleges report receiving applications from students with over 90% marks.

Available Courses for Admission

Bhagini Nivedita College is accepting offline applications for various undergraduate programs, including B.Com, B.A., and B.Sc. Admissions will be based on a merit list created from Class 12 scores and seat availability. DU has reiterated that this special permission is exclusive to these two colleges and does not signify a shift in the overall admission policy. Admissions for undergraduate programs in all other colleges will continue to rely on CUET scores and the CSAS process.
