MBBS-BDS Admission Counseling 2026: The results for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG 2026 have been announced. Candidates who have successfully cleared the exam are now looking forward to the start of the counseling process for MBBS-BDS admissions. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) is expected to release the counseling schedule shortly. In the meantime, the MCC has introduced several updates to the online counseling regulations for MBBS-BDS and medical postgraduate courses. Notably, candidates will no longer need to physically visit colleges for seat upgrades after an initial seat allocation. Additional modifications to the rules have also been implemented.

**Streamlining the Admission Process**

The MCC has revised the online counseling regulations to enhance the admission process for MBBS-BDS and postgraduate medical courses. The main goal of these changes is to simplify the admission procedure, minimize paperwork, and increase transparency for medical aspirants.

**Elimination of Physical Reporting for Seat Upgrades**

With the updated online counseling rules, candidates are no longer required to report in person to the college for seat upgrades after allocation. For example, if a candidate receives an MBBS-BDS seat in one round but wishes to upgrade in the next, they can select the "Upgrade" or "Willing to Upgrade" option without needing to visit the college. This online process ensures that their seat remains secure for the next round, saving candidates from unnecessary travel.

**Online Seat Surrender Facility**

The MCC has introduced an online facility for candidates wishing to surrender their allotted seats. Candidates can submit their requests through the MCC counseling portal within the designated timeframe, eliminating the need for a college visit. However, this online surrender option will strictly adhere to MCC regulations and timelines.

**NRI Quota Document Submission Online**

Candidates applying under the NRI quota can now upload their necessary documents online as per the revised MCC rules. This is significant as 15% of seats in deemed universities and private medical colleges are reserved for NRI candidates. Previously, candidates had to submit these documents in person at the respective institutions.

**Accessible Information on Seats and Fees**

The MCC has instructed all medical colleges and states to ensure that information regarding MBBS, BDS, and postgraduate medical seats, along with associated fees, is readily available to candidates. Admissions for MBBS and BDS seats are conducted through both All India Quota and State Quota counseling processes.
