New Two-Board Exam System

This year, CBSE implemented a two-board-exam system for Class 10 students. The second board examination took place from May 15 to May 21, 2026. This initiative aims to provide students with an additional chance to enhance their scores within the same academic year. It also allows students with 'compartment' status to retake the exam without waiting for the next academic year.

Student Participation in the Second Board Exam

Approximately 670,000 students registered for the CBSE Class 10 second board examination. A significant portion of these applications came from students aiming to improve their scores from the first board exam. Specifically, around 525,000 students signed up for the improvement exam, while over 85,000 applied for the compartment exam. This indicates a favorable response to CBSE's new examination format.
