CBSE 12th Result 2026: The release of the CBSE Class 12 results for 2026 has sparked discussions about regional performances. As in previous years, some areas achieved remarkable results, while others, particularly in major cities and states, did not meet expectations. Notably, South India once again excelled, while several regions in North India struggled.

Top Performing Region

Which Region Ranked Number 1 Nationwide?

The Thiruvananthapuram region emerged as the top performer in the CBSE Class 12 results for 2026, boasting a remarkable pass percentage of 95.62%. This consistent excellence in academics has been a hallmark of Kerala and South India over the years. Following Thiruvananthapuram, Chennai and Bengaluru secured the second and third positions, with pass percentages of 93.84% and 93.19%, respectively. These figures highlight the outstanding performance of South Indian students in board examinations.

Strong Performances from Vijayawada and Delhi West

Vijayawada and Delhi West Also Excelled

The Vijayawada region recorded an impressive pass percentage of 92.77%, while Delhi West achieved a commendable 92.34%. This performance is noted as the best among major North Indian regions. The Delhi East region also performed well, with 91.73% of students passing. The results indicate that schools in Delhi have improved significantly, placing the capital among the top-performing areas in the country.

Gurugram's Performance

How Did Gurugram Perform?

The Gurugram region, a key educational hub in Haryana, achieved a pass percentage of 88.45%. While this is a respectable figure, it falls short compared to Delhi and several South Indian regions. Nonetheless, it remains close to the national average, indicating a solid performance overall.

Lucknow's Underwhelming Results

Lucknow Region Falls Short of Expectations

The Lucknow region in Uttar Pradesh recorded a disappointing pass percentage of 82.21%. Given its status as a major educational center, expectations were higher, making this performance particularly concerning.

Weakest Performances from Prayagraj and Patna

Prayagraj and Patna Show Weakest Performance

The Prayagraj region had the lowest pass percentage nationwide at just 72.43%, while Patna followed with 74.45%. These results are viewed as the weakest in the country, raising significant concerns about educational standards in these areas.

Performance of Other Regions

How Did Other Major Regions Perform?

The Ahmedabad region achieved a pass percentage of 90.60%, while Ludhiana saw 87.92% of students succeed. Other notable performances include Pune at 87.32%, Ajmer at 86.78%, Panchkula at 85.73%, Ranchi at 85.01%, and Guwahati at 83.41%. The Bhubaneswar region recorded 81.71%, and Dehradun had 81.42%. Raipur saw 80.88%, Bhopal 79.43%, and Noida 79.02%.

Reasons Behind South India's Success

Why Did South India Lead Once Again?

As observed annually, South Indian regions have once again topped the performance charts. Education experts attribute this success to several factors, including consistent academic instruction, a strong foundational education, effective monitoring, and high student discipline. In contrast, many North Indian students face significant pressure from coaching classes and competitive exams, which may negatively impact their board examination results.
