The Bihar Board has announced significant changes to the Matriculation and Intermediate examinations for 2023, aimed at reducing student difficulties. Key updates include the ability to correct photograph errors on admit cards directly at examination centers, online monitoring through a mobile app, and revised procedures for handling question papers and OMR sheets. With the exams scheduled to start on February 2nd for Intermediate and February 17th for Matriculation, the board has ensured thorough training for center superintendents to facilitate a smooth examination process. Read on to learn more about these important updates.

Introduction of New Examination System

This year, the Bihar Board has introduced significant modifications to the Matriculation and Intermediate examinations aimed at easing the exam process for students. Notably, any discrepancies regarding photographs on the admit cards for 10th and 12th-grade students can now be rectified directly at the examination centers, eliminating the need for students to seek corrections elsewhere.

Online Monitoring and Training

The Bihar School Examination Board has announced that the upcoming examinations will be monitored via a mobile application. This app will also facilitate the uploading of information regarding any corrections made to the admit cards. To ensure effective implementation of this new system, center superintendents and computer teachers at the examination centers have undergone specialized training conducted by Bihar Board officials, aimed at preventing any potential issues during the exams.

Exam Schedule and Training Workshop

The Intermediate examinations are set to commence on February 2nd, followed by the Matriculation examinations starting on February 17th. The board is fully prepared for these events. A workshop was held at the Bihar Board's regional office in Motijheel, where center superintendents from various districts in the Tirhut division received training in two shifts. They were educated on utilizing the new technology during the exams and the regulations that must be adhered to.

Changes in Question Paper Handling

To enhance transparency during the examinations, the procedure for handling question papers has been revised. Instead of being opened in the center superintendent's office, the question paper packets will now be opened directly in the examination hall. A distribution table will be prepared in advance, detailing how many question papers will be opened in each room. The packet will only be taken out in the center superintendent's room in the presence of two senior invigilators.

Revised OMR Sheet Packing System

The packing method for OMR sheets has also been updated. After each examination day, 256 OMR sheets will now be packed into an envelope instead of the previous 200. If multiple subjects are tested in one session, the OMR sheets for all subjects will be consolidated into the same envelope. A significant relief for students with incorrect photos on their admit cards is that they can have their photos corrected at the examination center on the first day of the exam, provided they bring the necessary identification documents. The entire correction process will be documented through the examination mobile app.
