Bihar Board Class 12 Examination Results Announced
The Bihar Board has officially released the results for the Class 12 Examination of 2026. On March 23, during a press briefing, Education Minister Sushil Kumar and BSEB Chairman Anand Kishor shared the results. This year, there has been a slight decrease in the overall passing percentage, which is now at 85.19%. In comparison, last year's percentage was 86.50%, and in 2024, it was 87.21%. Consistent with previous years, female students have outperformed their male counterparts, achieving a passing rate of 86.23% compared to 84.09% for boys. Notably, 26 students achieved the highest marks, with 19 of them being girls across the Science, Arts, and Commerce streams.
Top Performers in Each Stream
In the Science stream, Aditya Prakash from Samastipur emerged as the top scorer with 481 marks, which is 96.20%. Aditi Kumari from Patna led the Commerce stream with 480 marks, equivalent to 96%. Nishu Kumari from Gaya topped the Arts stream with 479 marks, translating to 95.80%.
Details on Scrutiny and Compartmental Exams
Students who do not pass, even after grace marks, have two options. They can either request a re-evaluation of their answer sheets, which may lead to an increase in their scores if errors are found, or they can opt for the compartmental examination scheduled for April-May if they have failed in one or two subjects.
For those wishing to apply for re-evaluation or the Compartmental-cum-Special examinations, the application window is open from March 25 to April 2, 2026. This provides an opportunity for students who narrowly missed passing to salvage their academic year.
Eligibility for Compartmental Examination
Students who are unhappy with their results and believe they deserve a higher score can apply for re-evaluation in one or more subjects. Additionally, those who failed in a maximum of two subjects can take the compartmental examination. Students who registered for the exam but could not attend due to issues like admit card errors can also participate in the 'Special Examination' for all subjects.
