Updated Registration Schedule for GATE 2027 Announced

The exam will be conducted over six days in February 2027, featuring a new paper on Robotics and Automation. Important Update for GATE 2027 Candidates



Candidates gearing up for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027 should note a significant change in the registration timeline. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has altered the application schedule, meaning that the online registration will not start on the previously announced date. Instead, applicants can begin submitting their forms through the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) starting from August 27, 2026. Furthermore, the deadline for applications without incurring a late fee has been extended.


Revised Registration Dates

The updated timeline for GATE 2027 registration is as follows:

  • Start Date: August 27, 2026

  • End Date (without late fee): September 27, 2026

  • End Date (with late fee): October 5, 2026

  • Correction Window: October 14 to October 21, 2026

  • City Allotment Information Release: January 4, 2027

  • Admit Card Release Date: To be announced

Exam Schedule and Details

The GATE 2027 examination will take place over six days, specifically on February 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, and 21, 2027. Results are expected to be announced on March 19, 2027. The exam will feature a total of 30 subjects, and candidates can register for either one or two papers, adhering to the established guidelines.


Introduction of New Paper

This year, GATE has introduced a new subject: Robotics and Automation (RA). Additionally, some syllabi have been updated, and changes have been made to specific paper codes, including those for Textile Engineering and Fiber Science.


Significance of GATE Scores

GATE scores are crucial for admission into postgraduate and doctoral programs at various institutions nationwide. Moreover, numerous public sector companies utilize GATE scores for their recruitment processes. The validity of the exam score extends for three years from the date of result declaration.
