Rajasthan Introduces Twice-Yearly Board Exams for RBSE Students
New Examination System for RBSE Students
The Education Minister of Rajasthan has revealed a significant change for students of the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE). Starting from the next academic year, students will have the opportunity to take board exams twice within a single semester, allowing them to improve their scores through a "second chance exam."
During a visit to Kota district, Education and Panchayati Raj Minister Madan Dilawar announced this new initiative. He emphasized that this change aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which aims to enhance student flexibility and opportunities to showcase their skills.
According to Minister Dilawar, all students must take the first board exam, and those who pass will be eligible for a second exam to enhance their scores in up to three subjects. Additionally, students who receive supplementary results will also be able to take the second chance exam for a maximum of three subjects, allowing them to improve their grades within the same academic session without waiting a year.
Details of the New Examination Schedule
The Rajasthan Board will now conduct exams biannually. The primary examination is scheduled for February-March, followed by the second chance exam in May-June after the results are released. Both exams will cover the complete syllabus for that academic year, ensuring that students do not need to prepare differently for either exam.
Minister Dilawar also mentioned that if a student misses the main exam, they can still take the second exam by providing a medical certificate or a document from the District Education Officer, applicable only for valid reasons.
Examination Fees and Scoring System
The fee structure for the second chance exam will mirror that of the main exam, ensuring no additional financial burden on students. Furthermore, the Board will adopt a "best of two" scoring system, meaning that the highest score from either exam will be considered for the final result, thereby alleviating some of the pressure on students during their first attempt.
