Eligibility Criteria

Who can apply?

3. Strong research, writing, and communication skills are required.


4. Applicants must be enrolled or accepted at an accredited institution by August 30, 2026.


Work Authorization

Candidates must have legal authorization to work in the United States. Google will not assist in obtaining the necessary documentation for this permission, so applicants must ensure their eligibility independently.


Student Eligibility

Both undergraduate and postgraduate students, including those pursuing PhDs, can apply. Full-time and part-time students are eligible as well.


Applicants must be at least 18 years old by January 1, 2026, and those who have previously participated in the Google Policy Fellowship are not eligible to reapply.


Stipend Information

How much will the stipend be?


Selected fellows will receive a stipend from their host organization. Full-time participants (approximately 40 hours per week) will earn around $12,000 (approximately ₹10 lakh), while part-time participants (20 hours per week) will receive about $6,000 (approximately ₹5 lakh).


The stipend will be disbursed by the host institution, contingent upon satisfactory performance and completion of all required formalities. Additionally, fellows are responsible for any taxes incurred on the stipend.
