Application Process for Reserved Seats in Delhi Schools
In Delhi, 25% of seats in both private and government schools are allocated for children from the Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Disadvantaged Group (DG), Children with Special Needs (CWSN), and those with disabilities. The application window for these seats has been opened by the Delhi Directorate of Education starting February 22nd, with a deadline set for March 16, 2026.
Online Application Process
This year, parents can conveniently fill out the application form online. The Directorate has introduced a new portal for admissions. Interested parents can access the application process via the official website, edudel.nic.in, or directly through the portal at ewsadmissions.delhi.gov.in. All submissions must be made online. Here’s how to apply:
- Visit the portal at ewsadmissions.delhi.gov.in.
- Click on 'Register' and provide the required information.
- Log in to complete the application form.
- Select preferred schools.
- Submit the form, print a copy, and keep it for your records.
Age Requirements
The age criteria for applicants are as follows:
- Pre-school/Nursery: Children aged 3-5 years must be born between April 1, 2021, and March 31, 2023.
- Pre-primary/KG: Children aged 4-6 years must be born between April 1, 2020, and March 31, 2022.
- Primary/Class 1: Children aged 5-7 years must be born between April 1, 2019, and March 31, 2021.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for admission to private schools in Delhi, children must come from families with an annual income not exceeding ₹5 lakh. An age certificate is required, which should be issued by the Revenue Department of the Delhi Government. Additionally, families holding BPL/AAY (Ration Card/Food Security Card) issued by the Delhi Government before the application deadline are eligible to apply under the EWS category.
