Visva-Bharati, located in Santiniketan, has announced the recruitment of 14 teaching roles, which include positions for Professor, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor. This hiring process will adhere to the UGC Regulations established in 2018 and any subsequent amendments. The official announcement was made on September 28, 2026.
Application Process
Eligible candidates from India can submit their applications online until 11:59 PM on October 31, 2026. Applications should be made through Visva-Bharati’s recruitment portal: curec.samarth.ac.in.
Qualifications for Professor Position
To qualify for the Professor role, candidates must possess a PhD and have a minimum of 10 years of teaching or research experience at a university or college. Additionally, they should have published at least six research papers in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals and achieved a research score of 120.
Traditional or professional artists may also apply if they hold a postgraduate degree in the relevant field, have an 'A' grade from AIR (All India Radio) or Doordarshan, and possess 10 years of exceptional experience in their area of expertise, particularly in sculpture.
Eligibility Criteria for Associate Professor
Candidates for the Associate Professor position must have a PhD in the relevant discipline, a Master’s degree with a minimum of 55% marks, and at least eight years of teaching or research experience. They are also required to have published a minimum of seven research papers and possess a research score of 75.
For specific positions, traditional or professional artists with eight years of relevant experience are eligible, provided they have an 'A' grade from AIR or Doordarshan and can teach the subject.
Eligibility for Assistant Professor
For the Assistant Professor role, candidates must hold a Master’s degree in the relevant subject with at least 55% marks and have qualified for the UGC/CSIR NET or SLET/SET. Those with a PhD may be exempt from the NET requirement, in accordance with applicable regulations. Candidates with a PhD from a recognized top-500 foreign university may also qualify.
For positions numbered 11 to 14, a Master’s degree in the relevant subject with 55% marks and NET/SLET/SET qualification—or a PhD as per regulations—is necessary. Traditional or professional artists with significant achievements in their field may also be considered.
Selection Process
In the event of a high volume of applications, Visva-Bharati will shortlist candidates for interviews based on their qualifications and experience. The selection may be limited to a 1:15 ratio. Shortlisting will be based on academic and research scores as per UGC Regulations, 2018.
The final selection will depend on interview performance, and the academic documents, previous service records, and other credentials of selected candidates will be verified. Police verification may occur before or after joining.

The application fee varies based on the academic level of the post. For Academic Levels 14 and 13A, the fee is ₹2,000, while for Academic Level 10 posts, it is ₹1,600. This fee is non-refundable.
