Uttarakhand Government Cancels Graduate-Level Exam Amid Paper Leak Concerns
Cancellation of Graduate-Level Exam
The Uttarakhand government, led by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, has annulled the graduate-level examination conducted by the Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission. This decision follows the findings of an inquiry commission and affects around 105,000 candidates who participated in the exam held on September 21.
Rising Concerns Among Students
The recent incident of a paper leak has heightened anxiety among students and their families. Acknowledging the gravity of the situation, Chief Minister Dhami has initiated a thorough investigation by forming a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and appointing a single-member inquiry commission led by retired Justice UC Dhyani from the Uttarakhand High Court. The commission's main goal is to conduct a comprehensive and unbiased investigation into the leak and identify those responsible.
Public Engagement for Information Gathering
The inquiry commission has actively engaged with the public, organizing sessions in Dehradun, Haldwani, and other cities to collect feedback from students, candidates, and educators. Many candidates expressed their mental distress due to the leak, while teachers and school principals provided valuable suggestions for actions that would benefit the students. The commission's report was compiled based on these insights.
Calls for Exam Cancellation
In addition to the feedback collected, there has been a strong demand from students, their families, and various political parties for the cancellation of the exam. Recently, a group of BJP MLAs met with Chief Minister Dhami, urging him to annul the exam and arrange for a new one that prioritizes the interests of the students.
