Discrepancies in UTET 2024 Certificates

The Uttarakhand Teacher Eligibility Test (UTET) 2024 has come under scrutiny due to inconsistencies found in the certificates. During the verification process, it was noted that the roll numbers and scores on the certificates did not align with the records maintained by the Uttarakhand Board of School Education, Ramnagar.

Termination of Teachers in Bageshwar District

In Bageshwar district, the Education Department has dismissed 10 teachers from their positions in government primary schools after discovering that they had used forged documents. Investigations indicated that their UTET 2024 certificates contained discrepancies; specifically, the roll numbers and scores did not match the official records from the Uttarakhand Board of School Education, Ramnagar. This decision was made following a report from the Board, and legal proceedings against these teachers are now being prepared. The department has directed officials to take further action and has raised concerns about the verification process that occurred during the teachers' initial hiring.

Investigation Findings and Teacher Defense

After the issue was identified, the certificates of the teachers were compared with the original records held by the Uttarakhand Board of School Education, Ramnagar. The investigation confirmed that the marks and roll numbers on the certificates were inconsistent with the Board's official records. A report detailing the certificate verification was issued by the Chief Administrative Officer on August 10. The teachers were given a chance to defend themselves, with Bageshwar's Chief Education Officer, Asaram Chaudhary, stating that they were allowed three opportunities to present their case during departmental proceedings. While most attended the first two hearings, over half did not show up for the third and failed to provide original documents to validate their certificates.

In light of these dismissals, a significant question arises: how were the certificates verified during the appointment process if discrepancies existed? The department has mandated further legal action in these cases and has indicated that the review of other appointments and documents will persist. Additional measures may be implemented based on the investigation's outcomes.
