Uttar Pradesh Launches Chief Minister Yuva Udyami Vikas Abhiyan Yojana for Youth Entrepreneurs
Overview of the Scheme
The government of Uttar Pradesh has introduced an innovative initiative aimed at empowering the youth, named the Chief Minister Yuva Udyami Vikas Abhiyan Yojana (CM Yuva). A notable feature of this program is that individuals who have completed just the 10th grade can benefit from it.
Addressing Employment Challenges
In today's competitive job market, securing employment has become increasingly challenging. This reality has made it crucial for young individuals to consider entrepreneurship. However, a significant barrier they face is the lack of financial resources. To tackle this issue, the Uttar Pradesh government has rolled out the CM Yuva scheme, which provides loans of up to ₹10 lakh for starting a business, without the need for collateral and at zero interest. Let's explore the details of this initiative and its eligibility criteria.
What is the Chief Minister Yuva Udyami Vikas Yojana?
This initiative is managed by the Directorate of Industries and Enterprise Promotion under the Uttar Pradesh government. Its primary goal is to motivate youth towards self-employment, enabling them to establish small businesses and micro-industries, thereby generating new job opportunities in both urban and rural areas. The government aims to assist 1 lakh young entrepreneurs annually, with a target of 10 lakh self-reliant individuals over the next decade. A significant advantage of this scheme is that it requires only an educational qualification of 8th or 10th grade, eliminating the need for a degree from a prestigious institution. Instead, a skill training certificate suffices. Eligible training programs include ITI, computer courses, tailoring, electrician training, mobile repair, ODOP, VSSY, and other skill development courses.
Loan Details
The scheme provides loans tailored to the business concepts of applicants. Young entrepreneurs can receive up to ₹5 lakh as a fully interest-free loan, without any collateral, for small-scale industries or service-oriented businesses. Additionally, loans can reach ₹10 lakh with substantial interest subsidies and flexible repayment plans, encouraging youth to embark on their entrepreneurial journeys without financial stress. The government also offers a grant of 10% to 15% of the project cost, which does not require repayment. For instance, if a business plan amounts to ₹5 lakh, the government may provide around ₹50,000 as a grant.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for this scheme, applicants must meet the following criteria:
1. Be a permanent resident of Uttar Pradesh.
2. Be aged between 21 and 40 years.
3. Have completed at least 8th or 10th grade.
4. Hold a skill certificate from a recognized institution.
