Those candidates who have made it to the shortlist will now advance to the next phase: the Mains written examination. The online application window was open from April 21 to May 11, 2026, with the same date set for fee submission. Candidates were allowed to modify their applications until May 18. Initially, 929 vacancies were declared, but this number was later raised to 1,565 through a notice on May 8, 2026.

**Eligibility Criteria and Selection Process**

Candidates interested in applying must possess a postgraduate degree in fields such as Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Commerce, or a related discipline. The age requirement is between 21 and 40 years as of July 1, 2026, with age relaxation available for candidates from reserved categories as per government norms.

The recruitment process commenced with the shortlisting based on UP PET 2025 scores. Those shortlisted will proceed to the Mains written examination.
