UPSC DAF Submission for Civil Services Mains 2026
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has commenced the process for candidates to fill out the Detailed Application Form (DAF) for the 2026 Civil Services Examination (CSE) Mains. Those who have successfully passed the Preliminary examination can now proceed with the necessary formalities while also preparing for the upcoming Mains examination. It is important to note that completing the DAF is a prerequisite for participating in the Mains examination. Candidates can submit their applications online through the official UPSC website, with the final date for submission set for June 28, 2026. Failure to apply by this deadline will result in ineligibility for the Mains examination.
**Key Information Required in the DAF**
Candidates are required to provide personal details, educational qualifications, service preferences, and other vital information in the DAF. This form plays a significant role in the selection process, as the details included will also be referenced during the interview phase. Therefore, it is crucial for candidates to fill out all sections accurately and review their entries before submitting.
**Essential Pre-Mains Requirement**
Following the announcement of the 2026 Preliminary examination results, UPSC has released the list of candidates eligible for the Mains examination. Those who have qualified must confirm their candidacy by completing the DAF. With the Mains examination anticipated to take place in August 2026, candidates have a limited window to finalize their preparations and complete the required formalities.
**Application Fee and Exemptions**
An application fee of ₹200 is required for submitting the DAF. However, female candidates and those from SC, ST, and PwBD categories are exempt from this fee. Additionally, candidates must ensure that the information on the portal is updated and verified.
**DAF Submission Required for Admit Card**
UPSC has made it clear that the e-admit card for the Mains examination will only be issued to candidates who have successfully submitted the DAF within the specified timeframe. Those who do not apply will not be allowed to take the Mains examination. Candidates are encouraged to regularly check the official UPSC website for the latest updates.
