UPSC IES and ISS Exam Application Process



The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has initiated the application process for the Indian Economic Service (IES) and Indian Statistical Service (ISS) examinations. As per the UPSC notification, a total of 44 vacancies are available: 16 for the IES and 28 for the ISS. These roles are considered prestigious within the Central Government.


Age Requirements

Candidates must be at least 21 years old and not older than 30 years to qualify for these positions. Specifically, applicants should have birth dates between August 2, 1996, and August 1, 2005. Age relaxation is applicable for candidates from reserved categories as per government norms.


Educational Qualifications

To be eligible for the IES role, candidates should possess a postgraduate degree in Economics, Applied Economics, Business Economics, or Econometrics from a recognized institution. For the ISS role, a Master's degree in Statistics, Mathematical Statistics, or Applied Statistics, along with a Bachelor's degree, is required.


Application Fee Details

The application fee for this recruitment is set at ₹200. However, female candidates, as well as those belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and differently-abled individuals, are exempt from this fee.
