UPSC CSE 2026: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has officially announced the Civil Services Examination for 2026, revealing a total of 933 vacancies, a decrease from last year's 979. Interested candidates can submit their online applications via the official websites upsc.gov.in and upsconline.nic.in until February 24th. The examination is scheduled to take place on May 24, 2026.
Selection Process
The UPSC Civil Services Examination is the gateway for selecting officers for prestigious services such as the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), and Indian Police Service (IPS). Candidates must first pass the UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination to qualify for the Indian Forest Service Main Examination, as both preliminary exams are conducted together.

Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility for UPSC Civil Services
Candidates must hold a degree from a recognized university. Those in their final year of graduation are also eligible to apply.
Eligibility for the Indian Forest Service Examination
Candidates must possess a graduate degree in subjects such as Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, or Zoology. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture/Forestry or Engineering is acceptable.

The age range for applicants is set between 21 to 32 years, with age relaxation available for candidates from reserved categories as per government regulations.
Application Fee
The fee for applying to the UPSC Civil Services Examination is Rs. 100. However, SC, ST, disabled, and female candidates are exempt from this fee.
